The recent uproar “caused “ by the impending “Master Plan” for Addis Abeba and the surrounding Oromia region has gotten local and international attention. One piece on the Bloomberg online news quoted from a journalist’s account by asking a women living in Buraayu area said, the development plan is a threat to the Oromo language and culture. The same journalist also added a statement from one Addis Abeba university professor who alleges the government of Ethiopia by nor bringing a democratic development to the people of Oromia region. Can the Oromia region succeed if the development is not integrated not only with the neighboring regional state but also with neighboring countries? Is the Oromo people afraid of assimilation with other part of Ethiopia? did the culture of Oromia and language flourish or diminish on the past 25 years? some noted that there is gap between OPDO and the Ormo people in communicating the development plan , is such a gap by design or lack of competence ?
