Ethiopia launches ‘bond week’ campaign today


Addis Ababa, February 27, 2017 (FBC) – As part of the efforts to raise funds for the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), a ‘bond week’ campaign will be launched across the country today.

The campaign is aimed at creating favorable condition for Ethiopians to strengthen their support for the dam. During the campaign, all banks in the country will sell GERD bonds for a week.

Here in Addis Ababa, it will be launched at the Meskel Square in this afternoon in the presence of Mayor of Addis Ababa city, Diriba Kuma and other high level government officials.

The six anniversary of the commencement of the construction of the dam will be celebrated mid-March.The dam has now reached at 56 percent completion status.
