Gambella fires nine senior officials for fake documents

Addis Ababa, February 8, 2017 (FBC) –The Gambella Regional State Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission has fired nine senior officials for fake education certificates.

The measure came following the deep reform program conducted by the Gambella People’s Unity Democratic Movement (GPUDM) to identify competent leaderships.

“They were fired after a screening conducted on education certificates of 201 senior heads in collaboration with the Ministry of Education,” said Umod Ujulu, Commissioner of the State Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission.

The following are the officials who were fired from their posts for fake documents:-

1. Gnimulu Ugani – Deputy Auditor General

2. Gatwich War- Head of Construction Bureau

3. Pol Joke – Director of Mass Media Information Freedom Agency

4. Simon Gatluak – Advisor of Administration and Social Affairs

5. Tut Joke- Head of Education Bureau

6. Chol Kor- Advisor of infrastructure

7. Mery Gnanwer Dok, Women’s Unit Coordinator at Health and Health-related Women’s Agency

8. Gnuwech Gachlul- Head of Women’s Unit at Gambella town Administration Office

9. Gnayir Luldeng- Road Unit Coordinator at Transport and Road Development Bureau

According to Umod, those responsible for this criminal act will face justice. The commission is also screening education certificates of 328 individuals.
