Hailemariam Congratulates Newly Elected Somali President

Addis Ababa, February 8, 2017 (FBC) –Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn congratulated the newly elected Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed.

Ex- Prime Minister Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed defeated the incumbent President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in two rounds of voting.

Hailemariam reiterated his government’s commitment and readiness to closely work with the newly elected President to benefit the people of the two countries.

The Premier has appreciated the outgoing President for his commitment to make the election successful.

The premier told ENA that the success of the election displays that Somalia has started the path towards democratization.
