Addis Ababa, December 5, 2016 (FBC) – An event in commemoration of the former Cuban President Fidel Castro was held yesterday at the Ethiopia-Cuba Friendship Memorial Park in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Government representatives, Ethiopians educated in Cuba, diplomats, fans and supporters of Castro attended the commemoration.
Ambassador Taye, Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said Ethio-Cuba friendship is a blood tied and an eternal relation.

“Ethiopia will never forget Castor as he was together with us at a difficult time,” he added.

Ethiopians who educated in Cuba as a result of the bilateral relations existed between the two countries have been contributing a lot for Ethiopia’s growth, he added.

Cuban Ambassador to Ethiopia, Juan Manuel Rodríguez Vazquez, said the former president has done a lot not only for his country but also for global justice.

The Ethio-Cuba relations will remain forever, he adde.

Fidel Castor, who died at the age of 90 and ruled Cuba for nearly half a century, was buried in the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba, where he and a band of rebels touched off a revolution that reverberated across the world.

A 21-gun salute was fired in Castro’s honor.
