Addis Ababa, May 14, 2016 (FBC) –Some 58,000 households have been added to the list of people who are in need of food aid in Oromia regional state following the recent floods caused by heavy rains.
Fekadu Tesema, head of the regional state’s communication office, said a total of 300,000 people are in need of urgent food assistance.
The floods which occurred in 23 woredas (districts) also killed 28 people and over 6,000 cattle. About 18,000 hectares of land covered with seeds also eroded by floods.
Utmost efforts are underway to rehabilitate those affected by the flood and prevent similar incidents in the future.
