Addis Ababa, January 19, 2016 (FBC) –Ethiopia will host the first International Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) Summit, scheduled to take place from February 8-10, 2016, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).
The Ministry of Health of Ethiopia will host the summit, in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University (JHU) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The summit will focus on topics, such as HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, family planning/reproductive health, water, sanitation, the environment and gender, among others.
The inaugural summit is expected to bring together more than 500 researchers, communication experts and policy makers, Workneh Kasse, coordinator of the summit said.
The summit helps Ethiopia to showcase its success and share its experience in the prevention of malaria, tuberculosis and spread of HIV as well as in the reduction of maternal and child mortality.
It also helps the country build its image, he said.
Ethiopia was chosen to host the summit due to its durable peace and success in some health sectors.
