Addis Ababa, July 16, 2018 (FBC) – Chief Administrators of the Oromia and Ethiopian Somali regional states have agreed for the immediate deployment of federal military forces along the border between the two states.
In his press briefing today, Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed ordered federal defense force and federal police to discharge their responsibilities in mitigating the loss of lives at the border between the two regions.
Following the Premier’s order, Chief Administrator of Oromia regional state, Lema Megerssa and Chief Administrator of Ethiopian Somali regional state held talks today.
After the talks, they agreed for the deployment of federal defense and police forces to stabilize the area, said Ahmed Shide, Minister of Government Communication Affairs Office.
Chief Administrator of both regional states also pledged to team up efforts with the federal forces and do their parts for the success of the peace stabilization efforts, Ahmed said in a statement sent to FBC today.
They also decided to organize series of public conferences to find lasting solution and strengthen people-to-people relations between residents of the two regional states.
