Court sentences four individuals for being active to commit terror attacks


Addis Ababa, November 24, 2017 (FBC) – Four individuals have been sentenced up to five years and six months in prison for being active to commit terror attacks after becoming members of the so called terrorist group, the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF).

The first and second defendants Tilahun Odessa and Adem Hussien are residents of Kenya, while the third and fourth defendants Reguma Tessema and Yadesa Negassa are residents of Oromia regional state.

According to the charge sheet, the defendants received military and political training from OLF, disclosed information to the terror group as well as they were active to commit a terror attacks.

The first defendant was detained while trying to carry out a terror attack in the town of Shashemene, Oromia regional state, after he crossed into Ethiopia from Kenya in October, 2015.

The second defendant also leaked information to the terror group from Guji zone, Oromia regional state, after he came to Ethiopia from Kenya.

The 3rd and 4th defendants were also active to commit terror attacks by receiving an order from heads of the terror group sheltered in Kenya. The also asked the group to buy weapons for them.

The Federal High Court 19th Criminal Bench today handed the first defendant a 4 year and 9 months prison sentence, the second defendant 5 year and 6 months, third and fourth defendant a 4 year and 8 months each.
