Addis Ababa, October 4, 2017 (FBC) –Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn urged both Oromia and Ethiopian Somali regional state to scale up peace efforts to completely stop the boundary conflict arose between the two states.
The Premier today held discussion with heads of the two regional states in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen and other high-level government officials, according to Office of the Prime Minister.
Heads of both regional states and other pertinent federal government officials briefed the Premier about the current peace situations in the regional states.
In his concluding remark, the Premier said that the ongoing efforts should be strengthened so as to completely stop the conflict.
He further stressed the need to rehabilitate those who were displaced by the conflict from both regional states.
He said the government would discharge its constitutional responsibility to hold accountable those suspected of committing human right abuses during the conflict.
He further urged all bodies, elders and religious leaders in particular, to teach the youth about Ethiopia’s long tradition of tolerance and coexistence.
