All the 23 individuals were charged with planning to establish Sharia-led government and creating a terror group called ‘Muslim Jemea’ between 2004 and 2014.
They were also charged with crimes of killing and robbery at different places in Addis Ababa city administration, Oromia and SNNP regional states.
The defendants argued that “we didn’t commit terrorist acts”.
The federal prosecutor presented 41 witnesses and more than nine documents attached as evidence.
As the defendants failed to defend themselves, they were found guilty today.
The Federal High Court 4th crimina bench adjourned the sentencing for May 17, 2017.
