Eight individuals charged on suspicion of leaking information to leaders of terror groups


Addis Ababa, May 15, 2017 (FBC) –Eight individuals have been charged on suspicion of leaking political and economic information about Ethiopia to leaders of terror groups by attending at government meetings conducted in Addis Ababa and Oromia regional state.

The defendants are Melkamu Kinfu Teferi, Ayele Beyene Negese, Bonsa Beyene Negese, Yimam Mohamed Kiros, Lemesa Gizachew Abate, Kumera Tilahun Deressa, Meiad Ayana Atomsa and Muluneh Darge Ruda.

According to the charge sheet, the defendants had been leaking security and other classified information through Email and telephone to terror groups by attending at government meetings held between 2010 and 2016.

They were also charged for reporting lists of journalists and government officials for the groups to take action against them.

The Federal High Court 19th criminal bench will read the charge that prosecutor has brought against them tomorrow.
