76 individuals appear court on terror charges

Addis Ababa, March 6, 2017 (FBC) –76 individuals, who were arrested in Qafta Humera woreda, Tigray zone while trying to cross into Ethiopia from Eritrea to commit terror acts, appeared in court today.

The defendants, who have been members of the self-declared Patriots Ginbot 7 Movement for Unity and Democracy since 2007, crossed into Ethiopia after planning terror attacks and carrying various weapons.

According to the charge sheets, the defendants killed two security officers by opening fire at Qafta Humera woreda.

The defendants, who appeared at the Federal High Court 19th criminal bench today, were given the written charges.

The court will read out the charges to the defendants Wednesday.
