Addis Ababa, January 6, 2017 (FBC) –The Addis Ababa city administration said it would give out 70 percent of the over 2,000 job opportunities which it set to create in 2017/18 to unemployed youth.
The administration is working to create employment opportunities for 206,000 people in this year. Of these, 70% will be assigned only for youth. The remaining 30% will be allotted for other members of the society.
The administration has put aside 419 million birr for job creation. Addis Ababa Credit and Saving S.C. on its part made available 2 billion birr loan.
Speaking at a discussion held with stakeholders and heads of woredas (districts) in the administration, Driba Kuma, mayor of Addis Ababa city, called on all pertinent bodies to do their par for the success of the plan.
Manufacturing, constructing, urban agriculture, service and business are among the areas where the employment opportunities will be created, it was noted.
The federal government has already allocated 10 billion birr revolving fund for job creation in 2017/18.
