Addis Ababa, November 26, 2016 (FBC) – Denmark will provide technical assistance to the endeavors of Ethiopia to develop its renewable energy resources, according to the country’s ambassador to Ethiopia.

In exclusive interview with ENA, Danish Ambassador to Ethiopia Mette Thygesen said her country has offered support to the Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA) to expand modern farming in Ethiopia.

According to the ambassador, the relationship between the two countries that has been growing in various sectors is mainly a partnership with strategic nature.

Climate change is one of the fields of cooperation, she said, adding that the two nations agree on the need for economic growth that does not have negative impact on climate.

Denmark is ready to provide technical support to the effort Ethiopia is exerting to meet its power demand from wind over the coming three years, the ambassador revealed.

Some 27 million Danish Krone (86 million Birr) is allotted for the purpose so as to bring professionals from the sector to Ethiopia, it was indicated.

Ambassador Thygesen said agreement on the first phase of the project will be signed with the pertinent government body next week to make the project become operational soon.

The long-time diplomatic relation between Denmark and Ethiopia expanded to incorporate development cooperation 2014.
