Addis Ababa, April 8, 2016 (FBC) – The Oromia regional state has awarded more than 1,000 model farmers today for outstanding achievements in promoting technology and creating wealth.
The awardees created investment capacity by generating over a million birr worth of wealth.
After handing over the award, Muktar Kedir, Chief Administrator of the regional state said the role of farmers who use inputs for improved agricultural productivity is crucial to sustain and further consolidate the ongoing economic growth in the country in general and Oromia in particular.
Muktar also called on the award recipients to better perform and support farmers who lagged behind.
He further urged stakeholders to consolidate their joint efforts to improve agricultural productivity.
The Chief administrator finally underlined the need to scale up environmental conservation works to withstand the drought facing the country.
