UK-based Delonex launches oil exploration in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, January 30, 2016 (FBC) – A new UK-based Company, Delonex Energy Limited, has launched an oil exploration in the Ogaden basin, South-East Ethiopia.

The company is currently collecting seismic data from its exploration block. It has already acquired a data on more than 1,000 km line, according to The Reporter.

Based on the seismic data, the company would identify drilling sites. The company hopes to drill at least two wells in its concession.

Officials at the Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Natural Gas told The Reporter that they are happy with the progress Delonex is making on the oil exploration project.

Delonex Energy is an oil and gas exploration company focused on sub-Saharan Africa.

In August 2014, Delenox was given exploration license by the then Ministry of Mines.

The license area covers blocks 18, 19, and 21, located in the Abred-Ferfer area, with a total area of 29,865 sq km.

The license covers an initial exploration period of three years with a provision for two extensions of two years each.
