Egyptian defence minister Sedky Sobhi discussed Egyptian-Russian military cooperation with Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce Alexander Potapov during a meeting in Cairo on Thursday, the Egyptian Armed Forces said.
The meeting was attended by Egypt’s Chief of Staff Mahmoud Hegazy and other Egyptian military officials.

In November, the Russian Ministry of Defence announced that Egypt was going to buy a large amount of advanced weapons from Russia, though no further details were given.

In December, Russian media reported that Russia would be supplying Egypt with 46 new 52K Alligator Helicopters developed for the French-made Mistral-class amphibious warships.
