Ethio-Djibouti water project to be inaugurated after three months

Addis Ababa, June 26, 2017 (FBC) – The Ethio-Djibouti cross-border potable water project will be finalized after three months.

The project, which could supply safe drinking water for more than 700,000 Djibouti nationals, was tested three weeks ago and proved successful, Demelash Mulu, manager of the project told FBC today.

The construction of the project was launched in July 2015, at a cost of 329 US dollars loan secured by the government of Djibouti from the Export-Import Bank of China.

The project includes the construction of water wells, reservoirs, the supply and installation of 102-kilometer water distribution pipelines.

Ethio-Djibouti cross-border potable water project, one of the largest water projects in East Africa, will solve the drinking water problem in Djibouti as well as deepen ties between the two countries, it was noted.
