Police intercept 45 Kalashnikov weapons

Addis Ababa, January 27, 2016 (FBC) –Police have intercepted 45 Kalashnikov firearms allegedly to have entered in Gondar illegally.

The weapons were seized when a Toyota pickup, which carried the guns, fell off the road while trying to escape a check point at Sele Aroge Kebele, Debre Libanose wereda, north Shoa zone of the Oromia Regional State, with a high speed.

Head of North Shoa Zone Police Communication Division, Deputy Inspector Asfaw Daba, said the driver disappeared after the accident.

However, a youngster who was in the car together with the driver has been detained and he is under investigation, Asfaw said.
